That’s why Uniprint chose the restoration of historical Kihelkonna Church over a party to mark our anniversary.” Reinsoo says she hopes it is something the company’s partners will remember and that will bring a little warmth to their hearts.

Rene Reinsoo, vicar of the Kihelkonna Evangelical Lutheran Church, says the congregation are very grateful to Uniprint for their support in restoring the building. “We hope the lovely old house of worship we have here can be made even more beautiful and that a good many people have a reason and the chance to stop by at the church and think about their lives and eternity.”

Uniprint founders Sirje and Andrus Reinsoo may share their surname with the vicar, but it turns out that this is simply a coincidence: there are no family ties between them.

According to Villem Raam and other historians, Kihelkonna Church was built around 1260 AD. It is home to one of Estonia’s oldest post-reformation altars (1591) and pulpits (1604) and also boasts the country’s oldest preserved pipe organ, which dates back to 1805.

In 2004 the church received a new stone roof thanks to the support of the National Heritage Board. One year later renovations were carried out on the walls and vaulting of the altar room, with the main donation here coming from Mr. Eduard Trei from Canada. Support was again also offered by the National Heritage Board. Restoration work on the building continues.

The Kihelkonna congregation operates a Sunday school which is attended by 74 children. It also has its own women’s choir and band, and once a month morning tea is organised for pensioners in the parsonage. The parsonage itself includes a public youth centre, where young people from the parish can spend their free time in the evenings. Masses are also delivered in neighbouring villages, and in summer a Christian children’s camp is held. On the initiative of the church, this year will see the XII Kihelkonna Church Music Days, which are designed to attract beautiful music from afar to the western shores of Estonia.

Celebrating its 15th anniversary in February, Uniprint has set itself apart from its rivals through its innovative solutions and high print quality throughout its years of operation. The company has operated according to quality management system standard ISO 9001:2000 and environmental management system standard ISO 14001:1996 since 2004.

Uniprint is part of the UP Printing Group, whose turnover in 2006 was 187 million Estonian kroons. Founded in 1992, the company is 100% Estonian-owned and employs 48 people. Uniprint is involved in a number of other charity projects too: it launched a partnership project with the Estonian Children’s Fund and the Charity Foundation to support young people from orphanages with their university studies, and it has also contributed to the Pelgulinna Obstetrics Hospital Support Foundation and the Estonian Cancer Association.

Additional information:<br

The majority of them do not even make it to high school, and only 11 or 12 go on to study at university on average each year. That number could – and should – be a lot higher. In 2005 Uniprint, the Estonian Children’s Fund and the Charities Foundation launched the joint support project From Orphanage to College.

The goal of the support project is to give children from orphanages the financial support they need throughout their higher education – by providing a place for them to live near their university, the materials they require and a general monthly allowance. The support is also designed, where necessary, to cover the cost of preparatory courses leading to full university admission.

The longer-term goal of Uniprint’s charity work is that this social way of thinking reaches our client companies and from there on everyone else as well. Also involved in the project are the Estonian Printing Industry, OÜ Priit Press ja Lilled, Lihtsad Maapoisid AS and the Estonian Youth Chamber of Commerce with the officer workers’ Rat Race.

We are continually raising awareness of charity among our workers too. At our 2006 summer retreat our team had the chance to make their own donations to the project. To the money we had raised for our own part as Uniprint we added an even larger amount – an amazing total of 11,464 EEK.

From 2006 onwards Uniprint will be supporting the orphanage’s Jana Räästas with 3000 EEK per month throughout the period of her university studies. In addition to Jana, Kersti Kukk has been granted 5000 EEK support for university admission preparation courses.

Jana Räästas: “Uniprint’s support gives me a real sense of security. 3000 kroons a month is not a lot of money, but it’s enough to get by on. I won’t have to worry where the money’s coming from every month and instead can focus on my studies. This support will really spur me on to study harder and make an effort, since I know Uniprint are investing their money in me because they believe in me, and I want to show that I’m worth it.”

In cooperation with the Estonian Children’s Fund and the Charities Foundation, SEB Eesti Ühispank has opened account no. 100,520 3957 3009 009, all sums transferred to which (with the keyword ‘college’) will be directly received by these youngsters who wish to continue their education at university.

“There can never be too many people or companies that think socially. Everyone can do something to help those that need it.”

Sirje Reinsoo, Uniprint AS General Director – phone 6558 570; e-mail sirje.reinsoo@uniprint.ee<br

The sheet printing machine, which is based on Heidelberg´s latest technology, has already completed its start-up period and is ready to begin work at full capacity from this week.

Heidelberg 5-colour Speedmaster 74-5 printing press enables the printing of up to 16,000 sheets per hour in B2 format (520 x 740 mm). Its computer memory allows you to save thousands of print files, ensuring identical colour balance in the event of repeat orders. Semi-automatic plate exchange has reduced the amount of time spent on printing plate intake by 40 minutes. Sheet intake is facilitated through the use of vacuum, which guarantee the perfect alignment of sheets upon entry into the machine. The compressed air surrounding the print cylinders also ensures the smooth movement of sheets through the press, without any mechanical damage being caused.

Uniprint Marketing Director Mart Männiste says that the new machine could increase the company´s output by as much as 70%. “Adopting the new press has meant we’have cut down on the printing time we had with the 8-colour Heidelberg Speedmaster 74-8 that we acquired in 2000. Until now it was being run off its feet for the last ten or so days of each month producing the covers for big periodicals,” Männiste explains.

Working with these high-tech machines in tandem, Uniprint says it will be able to supply top quality printing to more flexible deadlines and at a very competitive price and all at world-standard levels.

Throughout its period of operations, Uniprint has always set itself apart from its rivals through its innovative solutions and high print quality. The company has operated according to quality management system standard ISO 9001:2000 and environmental management system standard ISO 14001:1996 since 2004.

AS Uniprint is part of the UP Printing Group, turnover being in 2005 154 million Estonian kroons. This time it was the turn of the most successful printing houses, determined on the basis of last December’s TOP list published in the Äripäev. The assessment committee consisted of the Äripäev’s web editor, Pirjo Vanem, MicroLink’s editor, Kaido Einama, Elion’s head of Internet service, Maiko Kalvet and designer Oliver Reitalu from the Kolm Karu advertising agency. They gave marks on a 10-point scale to the following website criteria: content, form and availability, with one point being a very poor result and ten points constituting an excellent result. The best websites were determined by summing up the points awarded for the three criteria. “It is obvious that printing houses do not consider investing in a proper website to be a top priority. This results in unattractive and insufficiently thought-through Internet resources that one does not wish to view for any extended period of time unless absolutely necessary. The world of printing does not exclude common customers who may just wish to have his/her calling cards or invoice forms printed, so the printing house’s website should communicate with the visitors in a simple language,” confirms Reitalu.

According to Elion’s head of Internet service, Maiko Kalvet, all of the printing houses’ websites included in the evaluation are available via the Neti online catalogue and some are more prominently represented in the corresponding search results than others. No one tried to purchase advertising to increase prominence. When using the search terms appropriate for this sphere, none of the websites in question were displayed readily, i.e. among the first search results, he adds.

The calendar of the Estonian Museum of Arts (printed by Uniprint )

Määratlemata
<guid

At the Kuldmuna (Golden Egg) ceremony on Saturday, the calendar of the Estonian Museum of Arts was announced to be the winner of GAD 2003. The winning piece of work was submitted and printed by Uniprint and designed by Anu Lemsalu from InDe Design. This year, 26 pieces of work were submitted to the competition and the jury, consisting of Andres Tali, Tiit Veermäe, Rain Väät and Kersti Sülla, chose the best 11. All presenters of these works were invited to the Kuldmuna ceremony, where the winner of the Kuldmuna was announced. Determining factors for the first place winner were clarity of work and high-quality printing. Galerie Art paper was the best choice for this kind of work as this paper ensures clear and sharp printing quality of sensitive pictures such as paintings. The interesting solution of using different papers has been expressed in a delicate and tasteful manner and the outcome is a memorable and dignified wall calendar. The GAD competition is a competition for the best printed matter, organised by MAP Eesti with the aim of paying more attention to the quality of printed matter. Any printed matter on Galerie Art paper is entitled to participate in the competition for the Galerie Art’s printing prize. The competition is open to everybody Ð advertising agencies, design bureaus, printing houses and customers for printed matter. Evaluation criteria include print quality, preparations for printing, harmony between the paper and design and the developed outcome as well as clarity and readability of the work. The GAD competition took place for the second time this year and has completely justified its existence. The winners of GAD 2003 are packing their bags to travel to Ireland.
